Cultural Protocols & Consent

We acknowledge the ancestral and unceded territories on which we gather, beginning with the Coast Salish peoples in Vancouver. Every action we take is grounded in consultation, respect, and consent.

We follow cultural protocol in:
• Artistic and visual content
• Language and ceremony
• Storytelling and symbolic use
• Land acknowledgement and event timing
• Revenue-sharing and economic benefit

Indigenous Leadership & Wisdom

We are actively co-creating with:
• Elders and ceremonial leaders
• Indigenous producers, artists, and facilitators
• Indigenous youth, educators, and storytellers

They are not featured — they are leading the design of rituals, pavilions, educational spaces, and visual identity.

Long-Term Partnership

This is not a one-time event. Our intention is to:
• Establish a First Nations Cultural Council to oversee all content and growth
• Co-develop a licensing and sharing model rooted in reciprocity
• Ensure that each edition in other cities involves local Nations and protocols
• Create permanent cultural programs beyond the festival dates

We walk with Indigenous communities — not in front, not behind.
We listen. We ask permission. We evolve together.

Honoring Through Action

We recognize that true partnership includes:
• Shared decision-making
• Financial equity
• Creative ownership
• Land-based teachings
• Healing spaces
• Protection of culture

This is our ongoing commitment — one that deepens with every conversation and every edition of I See You Human.
